Does the digital key lock and unlock car when walking away or walking to your car whilst in your pocket or bag or do you have to physically have to push the keyfob or drivers door

Hi,

The keyless entry requires you to make contacts on a patch on the door handle and boot. I find the boot one works fine, but the door one you have to hold your thumb in the right spot for a couple of seconds to make it open. I think if you only use this method to get into the car, it will then lock again when you walk away, but if you've pressed the button on the key fob then as far as I can tell it will only lock again with the key fob. It also re-locks itself if you don't open any doors.

In most situations (ie. unless my key is stuck at the bottom of my bag somewhere) I've not found the keyless entry to be hugely useful for getting in and driving, because it is a little temperamental. It is really handy for the boot though - that's where i find I use it most (as you can get in the boot without realising you've not unlocked the car)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/gne5toqcikdv8 ... ocking.jpg this is the page from the manual but it doesn't seem to behave quite like it says. I've not returned to it in the dark in a car park to see if the welcome lights come on like it says yet, I'll do some experimenting and update you.

Hope this helps,
Nathan

Mine doesn't lock or unlock just by walking towards or away from it either. I've had a fiddle through the car settings, I can't find anywhere to turn it on or off either. As I say, the only success I have is with the boot, but your finger still has to make contact with a sensor on the boot opening latch on the tailgate, it doesn't actually unlock all by itself.

I'll just stick with the button controls on the key fob I think.

Has anyone had any further joy with the keyless entry? Mine doesn't seem to work... Whether coming or going. Just took delivery of my new vehicle today, and this is doing my head in.

My experience is as above really. The boot keyless works fine, the doors are very temperamental and therefor impractical.
I haven't noticed my car lock when walking away and I have checked as the manual would suggest it should. Having said that, the manual doesn't seem to cater for the electric version specifically as you would expect.

I am quite disappointed with the keyless locking and unlocking. The thumb pad on the door handle requires you to tap it a couple of times but it is temperamental. The zone proximity locking does not seem to work. However, a week or so ago, after parking y car in the garage, as I was walking away from it after locking it with the key fob, the car unlocked and the locked itself again. I filmed this on my phone. I could hold the key with two fingers by the keyring and move the key back and forth toward the car while standing just over 1m from it and it would cause the car to lock and unlock but not in any sensible manner. For example, if I moved the key toward the car I would have expected it to unlock but it would just unlock and lock again immediately.

I took the car to the dealer for a different issue (after writing to the Vauxhall CEO) and mentioned the locking/unlocking anomaly. I showed them the video and their technician didn't know why it was doing it and seemed oblivious to the proximity unlocking feature. Anyway, they said they did a firmware update but nothing seems to have changed.

Hi all, so new user here, we got a new elite nav premium in july 2020, it was manufactured in march 2020 and we were the first registered owners.

This car was replaced after being rejected due to issues with the radio that could not be fixed. We then bought a replacement manufactured in October 2020 and delivered Jan 2021 again new.

On the first car the locking did not unlock on approach and lock on walking away, the replacement does loclk on approach and departure as per the manual.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Also discovered today, we get the map in the instrument display. Never go that in the last one either.

Thanks

I’ve had really bad issues with unlocking the vehicle, it’s as if the vehicle is in a limp mode. They suggested pressing the boot button will unlock the car but it doesn’t, they also suggested to keep the keys in a signal blocker :/ they also suggested it was my fault for keeping the keys in the detection zone of the car (5m) which I haven’t. They can’t diagnose or fix the issue, this is the second car I’ve had as the first one was replaced for an engine management fault. I want to reject this car and return it but Vauxhall won’t let me as they keep calling it a design characteristic and not a fault even though it’s causing me bad issues.

I’ve also had problems with the radio being blank and the handbrake being turned off but the car won’t move as if it is still turned on.

Has anyone else had these issues?
