Hi Everyone,
I'd like your advice about the following problem, please.
I'm having problem with a 2020 Vauxhall Corsa supplying power to a set of Viofo dash cams in "parking mode" when the ignition is off.
Is the car capable of supplying battery power beyond a minute or so?
I've had the camera professionally fitted and they assure me the hardwire kit connects to the correct fuses.
I've also taken it to a second garage for them to check it over and they say everything is correctly wired, but don't why I can't record in "parking mode" for multiple hours.
Additionally, I've tried a second hardwire kit and fuse taps and connected that myself to the same fuse points that were previously used.
The only way to record beyond 1 minute when the ignition is off, is to turn on the radio and enter Dark Mode on the panel. Then I can record for however long, before the car enters battery saving mode and shuts the power.
The only conclusion I can think of, is the car can't do "parking mode" and I need to buy a car battery pack to power the dash cam for multi hours recordings.
Thanks for any advice.
Is Constant Power Delivery Possible When The Ignition Is Off?
you will need a permanent live supply from the fuse box, anyone with a multimeter can test which is the right fuse to connect to. fuse F31 behind the glovebox is 12v power for the cigarette lighter socket, but not sure if that's a permanent live supply.
