Hi, I've fitted a couple of Nextbase dashcams in my cars (BMW X5 & Volvo EX30) which are powered by OBD2 connectors with no problems. I've promised to fit the same into my step-son's car & he drives a Corsa F EV. He lives 100m miles away and I haven't had chance to check out the car, but am travelling down this weekend to fit it. I would be really grateful for some advice on the follows:

1. I would like to use an OBD2 connector for power. From what I can establish on the internet, the OBD2 socket seems to be behind a panel in the glovebox? I was expecting it to be somewhere under the steering column. I'm happy to route the cable to the glovebox and was wondering if there is likely to be sufficient space behind the plastic panel to plug in the OBD2 plug? Or would I be better of getting a hardwire kit, and if so, any tips on which fuse to tap into (bearing in mind it's an EV)?

2. I've seen something online that suggests that finding a discrete wiring route into the tailgate for the rear camera is a bit challenging. Any tips and advice on the best way to route the rear dashcam cable will be hugely appreciated?

Thanks for any replies. Cheers, David :D

Go with a hardwire kit - worked fine for me. Can’t remember which fuse i used, think it was the one for the 12v socket. You’ll probably have to take the glovebox out, and the side panel off, but there’s some decent metal screws to use for the neutral.

There’s nowhere near enough clearance for the OBD port to have something permanently plugged in - I’ve just got myself an OBD2 reader and the cover would not fit back on, even after purchasing low profile extension cables.

The plastic cover for the fuse box simply doesn’t have enough space for an OBD device of any form. Right hand drive UK car though so if yours is LHD your mileage may vary.
